Time to place the deposit

It's been a couple of weeks since looking at the Triumph tigers at Mah. It was easy to decide which bike to get, I won't even look at the spec. of other brands and their new bikes. The 4 years warranty is very attractive. My friend's previous bike has encounter some issues, luckily he bought new and the agent was able to solve his problem at a much lesser cost due to warranty. Nobody wants to buy a bike and later paid so much for repairs, especially if the defect is not caused by the rider.

The Tiger 800 XRX height suits my build most and I felt comfortable on it. I wanted to ride on the road with the test bike, but the XRX model is out for loan for a really long. I asked Rylee, the Mah motor staff if he was able to let me ride another similar one. He offered a few and I asked for the Tiger 800 2013, hopefully to get the feel of handling the weight riding it since the design is similar to XRX.

As usual, Jean and the kids came along to support me. Bobby was spotted at MAH :) Rylee greeted me and led be to the back of the shop to test ride the bike. I have not been riding for 8 years so I was a little worried mishandling a Class 2 bike. Once I mount on , start the engine and rev riding off, every riding instinct came back and I rode without thinking twice of mishandling it. The bike was very easy to ride. I struggle at the first turn with a wide turning.  Switching gears with my new safety boots like a blind man. But after a while, i was able to counter a bend and change gear properly. I returned with a smile and thought I would be confident riding the XRX.

Handling felt good.

Jeryn amazed with me on a bike?

Alan came while we were going up level 2. I looked at the various models on display once more and I told Rylee that I want to place a deposit on the XRX. I am not financially ready to purchase it until I retire my car in June. We agreed on the deposit price ,  locking down the COE at $3649, selected the accessories to order and made Jean the Guarantor :D

Helmet first

Need to ride, need helmets!

Have been checking online for many range of helmets. First, the brand Shoei, then Regina's range and Motorworld's range.

I was planning to browse for some gears for riding too. So we headed down to Jln Besar where there are a few shops selling bike stuff/accssoires/gears. We looked for helmets first as its the most important part of a riding gear.

At Regina, we looked for Darren, not sure if he stills remember me. He brought us to the show room so we could browse and test most of the gears there. The first set he recommend us to try was Shark - Spartan Carbon. Was surprised by the weight of the helmet. Extremely Light. Putting it on felt very comfortable too. Jean agree on this. He quote us 500 for 1. It was the budget I set for 1 helmet. We tried the other Shark helmets, the cushions felt uncomfortable, perhaps it was the material or the layout , IDK. They were heavier too. Next was AVG . Nolan and others I cant remember. I didnt try SHOEI as the price I asked was very high.

Next, I tried boots , gloves, jackets, they were so-so. Not much choices. And back to the helmet, I tried on the Spartan carbon again, still feels very comfortable even when its' tight. The design were nice too, not fancy. I asked Darren if he could give more discount. He said best 480 per helmet. We took the 2 design we set eyes on. Settle on a cheap set of daily riding gloves.  Darren threw in some  Macna neck tube freebies.

After this, we had down to Motorworld for more browsing....

MAH MOTOR browsing

My long time bike kakis shared that MAH motor is having some promotion due to some construction going on. Zero down payment and 0% interest installment for used bikes. What a deal not to miss. I brought Jean our kids down to see what they have to offer. Bobby, my friend and also close to MAH's staff offer to help me with my choices. Before today, Charlie recommend Triumph Tiger 800 XRX and its good deal. Coz I told him that I am looking for Aventurer bikes. After browsing some of the used bikes, African twin and a couple of triumph tigers caught my attention. Charlie's old bike was there too.

Time to have fun with it ๐Ÿ˜„

We head up to the show room at level 2. Triumphs were on display, the tigers were under the spot lights. They looked amazing but not so much for the price. While the staffs were not around, Bobby helped to explained why its a good deal and came up with an excel sheet of the price range of different model and payment plans. One would think he is a salesman here ๐Ÿ˜ƒ. Charlie shared the same information then night before . Brand new with 2+2 years no mileage limit warrenty. Not to mention the bike comes with good quality parts, one obvious part is the set of brembo brake caliper.

After trying to mount on a few models. I had my mind set on the XRx TIGER 800. This one suit my body build and I felt comfortable mounting on it. Hope to have a test ride soon.

Triumph Tiger 800 XRx  Lowered version, The 1200cc is just next to it. That one comes with free Box

We check and saw COE was 3602k and soon I'll get my rebate scraping my car in 2 . To be continue then....

The search has began

Its around 10 years since I stopped riding due to family commitments. My last ride , The Suzuki HAYABUSA has accompanied me and Jean through many adventures, especially in Pasir Gudang circuit and riding up to Penang and thailand. I have a blog noting down all the trips and things done and relating to that bike. TISH HAYABUSA Kids has grown up and are easier to handle now. My car has reached it's COE expiry and soon I wont have to carry the burden of paying and maintaining a car. There is also no point to get another car since no more travels for baby sitting . This is the time now to continue my adventure where I left many years ago... The search  for a new bike has began.
